The modern quest for security and certainty…has closed the door on the great mystery that actually shines everywhere, and which does not need to be mastered, but rather received as a gift of grace. – Dr. Joseph Milne
In the unprecedented times that we are living in, is it possible to discover deeper ways of engaging with the world as it is? Join Mary Attwood and Dr. Louise Livingstone as we explore the practices that expand our ways of seeing and knowing and carry the potential to alter how we encounter and move in the world.
We often miss the richness of the world’s conversations, the myriad forms through which it tries to communicate something greater than our rational minds can appreciate. As scholar Joseph Milne says, “the world is always speaking to us, it is how we live that is our reply”. In this participatory three-week course, we will learn to open our eyes, hearts and minds to the language of the living world, to ancient ways of knowing that honor our intuition and our imaginal consciousness. We will gently challenge the starved version of normality that many of us live in today that leaves us depleted and hungry for meaning and impacts how we create and experience our reality.
We’ll open to this deeper conversation with the world through the wisdom of art and nature and the broader attention they inspire. We’ll also use lecture, group discussions and two key frameworks – Mary’s Art of Seeing and Louise’s Heart Sense approach – to enter into the realms of image and feeling and gain the tools we need to examine what the world is asking of us right now.
By consciously moving our attention into the living, breathing, animated world and its continuous unfolding, we open possibilities for both deeper meaning-making in our lives and for co-creating the world of our heart’s vision.
Note: Please have on hand a journal and pen, and water to drink.
